bat - project
BAT - PROJECT
SUMMARY
First step:
Introduction to the living and habitat condition of bats during the biology lessons. There are different possible ways e.g.: showing films, reading and working on information sheets. Our general aim is that all students create a portfolio about bats.
Second step:
To get the student in different ways more involved in the topic we connect biology and technics. The students there build/fabricate their own “bat-hotel” and hang it to trees near our school.
Third step:
“Bat-wandering” in the doom
- warming up with games about bats.
- working with the bat-detectors.
Explaining how the detector works and how to use it. Explaining that each species has is own sound on unique frequencies so that the students are able to tell which bat they are hearing and watching.
USEFUL TIPS AND HINTS
Didactics:
- Indoor lessons about bats to prepare the students for the real contact with bats.
- An evening walk with bat-detectors.
The aim is to sensitise students for the needs of endangered species. How and where bats live and hunt.
