GREEEN CLASSROOM

SUMMARY

The project is called “Green classroom”. A classroom in a primary school has decided to install a green classroom in their classroom. Each pupil had to bring a pot, in most cases a used PET bottle that is cut off to serve as a planting pot, and decide which vegetable he/she wants to grow. The seeds are planted in around April so that plants grow up until summer holidays June 1. Each pupil puts his name on the pot and is responsible to water (not too much, not too little) his plant and take care of it. Kids enjoy their classroom gardening and get enthusiastic about that. Everybody is watching each others plants to see which seeds grow faster, how they develop leaves, etc. Kids take their pots with them for summer to continue growing them in their own premises – gardens or balconies.

USEFUL TIPS AND HINTS

This is a wonderful experience for town kids to get to know how they may grow their own plants, vegetables, learn that they have to take care of the plants, the nature, the earth. The topic may be further developed into local growing and consuming local products to contribute to less climate change.
